Wharfedale Rail Users’ Group (WRUG) exists “to promote the interests of rail users, and to lobby for improvements to services or passenger facilities as appropriate”. For nearly 30 years, the WRUG committee has brought together representatives of the various communities in the lower Wharfe Valley to work together to achieve these aims.
Committee members are regular rail users, either commuters or off-peak leisure travellers. We use our knowledge to influence decisions and to suggest ways of improving the service, working closely with Northern Rail and METRO. Please read our latest Newsletter to get an update of what is happening on our Line and the actions we want to see taken to improve all our journeys.
Half-fare Rail Travel for Senior and Disabled passes
Reduced fare train travel for Metro Senior and Disabled Pass holders
From Monday 2 January 2012
For all train journeys wholly within West Yorkshire, the following now applies to Metro-issued ENCS Senior and Disabled (including companions) passes:
There is no further discount on the half-fare if you hold a Senior or Disabled National RailCard.
Please note: If you are making many rail journeys on the same day, Metro-issued ENCS Senior and Disabled pass holders may find it better value to purchase a Concessionary Train DayRover. This is available to use on trains departing after 0930 Monday to Friday and all day Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
(The following changes do not affect holders of Metro-issued Blind Persons ENCS passes)
